Protection for models
and photographers.
Photos get reposted, sold and used in ads without permission. ClearTrace helps whoever holds the copyright in a shoot file accurate takedowns against unauthorized copies and see what happens to each one.

Who owns the photo matters
Under U.S. copyright law, the copyright in a photograph usually belongs to the photographer, unless it was assigned in writing or made as a work for hire. Models often hold rights by agreement, and a model's likeness can also be protected by right-of-publicity laws, which are separate from copyright. To file a DMCA notice you must own the copyright or be authorized by the owner, so check your shoot agreements. When in doubt, the photographer can authorize the takedown.
How ClearTrace helps

- Portfolio, agency and social links kept on file as proof of ownership.
- Searches for your names and aliases, with matches added to your dashboard.
- Results tracking and CSV export, useful for agencies and photographers managing many shoots.
Fake accounts and impersonation
Accounts pretending to be you are usually handled through each platform's impersonation reporting tools rather than copyright law. ClearTrace's notices cover copyright infringement.

Frequently asked questions
I'm the model, not the photographer. Can I file?
Only if you own the copyright or the copyright owner authorizes you. Many models get rights or a license in their shoot agreement; otherwise the photographer can file or authorize you.
Can agencies manage several models?
Yes. The Agency plan covers multiple creator profiles with bulk submission and exports.
Does ClearTrace remove impersonation accounts?
Our notices cover copyright infringement. Impersonation is usually reported through each platform's own tools.
